Welcome back from Spring Break!
We will still do these activities each week...
1) Pay attention to current events. (Check out the articles and updates on the coronavirus page, and other news.)
We will still do these activities each week...
1) Pay attention to current events. (Check out the articles and updates on the coronavirus page, and other news.)
2) Read! Read books and novels. Learn... and take pride in YOUR learning through reading!
3) Do the tasks below... be a good caretaker of your own body, of your family, and of your community!
Remember: A major part of social studies is the study of citizenship and the responsibilities that go along with being a good citizen. This includes caring for ourselves (so we can be the best people we can be) and caring for others and our surroundings. Some of these tasks will be based on service to others which we can connect to our citizenship and social studies, history, and geography, but they are also a big part of our faith and our school mission.
Look up Matthew 6:26. What does God say about the birds? Look outside and watch the birds for a while. What are they doing? Do they seem more sad today than two weeks ago? Or do they still continue on? How should we respond to things that have changed for us in the last two weeks? What does our Heavenly Father promise us?
Also, our school mission statement:
St. Paul's Lutheran School exists to educate each child in a Christ-centered environment for a life of service to God and man.
What would be better than using some of our time away from our school building than to learn to be better citizens and to fulfill the reason our school is there... to learn and prepare for a life of service to God and man?
Do this week's five tasks, in any order, one per day:
TASK ONE:
YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH! For week 3... keep exercising. Go on a bike ride, run, shoot a basketball or play PIG with a sibling, and be active. But also, this week the challenge is to 1) Try to eat at least one fruit or vegetable at every meal, all week. If possible, try something you've never had before. Text me a picture of your physical activity and of one fruit or vegetable that you are eating. Tell me your name with your text! 260-417-2229. |
TASK TWO:
NEW PLACES TO CLEAN This weeks cleaning activity is to clean something that normally doesn't get cleaned. Here are some ideas: Is there any mold/dirt on the north side of the house where the sun does not shine? Can you get rid of it? How about sticks in the yard from winter that are getting caught in the grass and causing it not to grow? Oil on the garage floor or driveway that you could find a way to scrub off? Marks or dirt on the wall or doors of your house? The stove top and/or microwave inside! Your kitchen cabinets - inside and/or outside! What can you help your parents clean that normally doesn't get a chance to be cleaned. (Make sure you ask your parents for appropriate cleaning materials... we don't want to scratch or damage anything because of what we use.) Text me a picture of what you are cleaning! Make sure to tell me WHO you are! Text me the picture using your phone or your parents phone at 260-417-2229. |
TASK THREE:
COOKING THIS WEEK: Make a meal with a theme! It should still have all the parts a meal should have - food groups: Breads & Grains, Fruits & Vegetable, Meat, Dairy, etc... Your theme could relate to a holiday or season, to a country, to a book, movie or TV show, to time period, or could simply be something as simple as color! Make everything in the meal one certain color. You pick what you want the theme to be. Text me a picture of the meal you've prepared! Text me at 417-2229. I want to see what you've made! |
TASK FOUR:
LETTER TO A TEACHER or PRINCIPAL This week's letter is going to be to a teacher or principal that you've had as a student (it doesn't have to be at St. Paul's if you've gone to other schools.) Write a letter or e-mail to a current or past teacher. Maybe you could thank the person for some way that they helped you or impacted you. Maybe you could just encourage. Tell the person how you are doing, and what is both good and bad in these stay-at-home times. Make sure you check your spelling, grammar, and punctuation before you send it. If you don't know where to send it - be creative in finding out an address... or send it to the school. St. Paul's teachers e-mail addresses are simple... first letter of the teachers first name, then last name @stpaulsfw.org. For example, my school e-mail is [email protected]. |
TASK FIVE:
KEEP LEARNING FOR LIFE! (Same as previous weeks.) Ask your parents to teach you something you have never done before... SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN PREVIOUS WEEKS, and learn how to do it. Then, do it again completely on your own. This could be anything.... but should really be something you didn't really know how to do before. Examples: 1. How to write a check. 2. How to groom a pet or give it a bath. 3. How to change a diaper. 4. How to use your photos to make a photo album or a shutterfly book. 5. How to trim bushes. 6. How to paint a room in your house. Previous Examples: 1. Doing the laundry.... washing, drying, folding, putting away. 2. Loading and running the dishwasher... putting soap in, setting it, and putting dishes away. 3. Cooking or baking something you did not know how to cook or bake before. If you use this in your dinner... do this one BEFORE you do the dinner-making task. 4. Change the oil on your parents car. 5. Pump the gas at the gas station and pay. Do it once with your parents. Then do it on your own while they sit in the car. 6. Pick something else you'd like to learn how to do.... and learn to do it on your own! |
