ALGEBRA ACTIVITY ONE: (This is NOT for Miss McWilliams.... this is EXTRA Algebra work if you want some extra practice and understanding. If you are looking for your math assignment, go to Miss McWilliam's page!)
When you access today's Algebra I E-Learning Activity by clicking on the Kahn Academy button below these instructions, please complete the following:
1) Click on the "Overview and History of Algebra". (You do not need to sign in... just click on the words Overview and History of Algebra, THEN click on "Origins of Algebra." Watch the video!
2) Under "Introduction to Variables", watch the following video lessons (Tip: You may view each video as many times as you need to until you understand the concept.):
- Lesson "What is a Variable?"
- Lesson "Why aren't we using the multiplication sign?"
- Lesson "Evaluating an Expression with one Variable"
3) THEN PRACTICE Evaluating Variables by doing about 10-15 minutes of problems for "Evaluating Expressions in One Variable" (It's the last item under "Introduction to Variables" under "PRACTICE" and it has a star next to it. You'll see it when you click on the link below. FIRST watch the lessons... THEN do the problems.)

ALGEBRA ACTIVITY TWO: When you access today's Algebra I E-Learning Activity by clicking on the Kahn Academy button below these instructions, please complete the following (You may have to go back and forth between this page and the Kahn Academy page to follow these instructions):
1) Click on the "Continue" button OR on the "Overview and History of Algebra."
(Remember, you do not have to sign-in or sign-up... just start clicking into the following lessons and watch.)
2) Under "Overview and History of Algebra," right at the top, watch the following video lessons (Tip: You may view each video as many times as you need to until you understand the concept.):
- Lesson "Origins of Algebra"
(You watched this last time... you do not have to watch again, but may want to be refreshed!)
- Lesson "The Beauty of Algebra" (10 minutes)
- Lesson "Intro to the Coordinate Plane" (11 minutes)
- Lesson "Why All the Letters in Algebra?" (3 minutes)
3) Your assignment: After completing what you have in the Algebra course in class so far, and then watching these videos... do you feel any different about Algebra? What do you think of it after seeing its beauty? What did you learn about the coordinate plane? Why all the letters? Fill in the form below to answer these questions.
