ENGLISH
Watch this video about "Great Speeches" of the 20th century. It is a very short video about five great speeches. Then tell me... do YOU agree that these were great speeches, based on the little segments you have seen? You have given a speech to the class... if not this year, last year. And you will probably give another one soon! You have studied U.S. History, and have read and understood the importance of The Gettysburg Address (or soon will!). You will visit Washington, D.C. and stand on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial where Martin Luther King, Jr. gave a great speech... and you will see his monument. Tell me... WHAT makes these speeches great? What makes ANY speech great?
"The time is always right to do what is right." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
UNITED STATES HISTORY
You watched some great speeches earlier for your English Assignment. Now watch this 6 minute video about the Gettysburg Address, including the speech itself. I believe this was one of the greatest speeches of ALL TIME (not just of the 20th century). It may even be THE GREATEST of all time. Watch the speech, and then answer the following questions.
