Reading is a GREAT way to spend some of your time out of the school building. If your parents allow you to do so, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial of Audible and listen to books, which is another way to read. I signed up for this myself for the next 30 days, and plan to use it for myself and for Nathan, Emma, Lily, and our family. If you would like to do so, have your parents help you. Go to Audible.com and sign up! You can cancel it at anytime. If you like it, you can pay after 30 days.
In 7th grade, we are listening to "Allies" by Alan Gratz. This book takes place in WWII, which we just studied in Western World Geography in class. We are starting on Chapter 24, "Goldilocks and the Two Canadians" if you are able to listen. The goal would be to finish the book before we return to school the day after Easter. You can also check out the book at the Library if you are able. If you read an actual copy of the book, start on page 114. Here is a preview of the book for your parents:
June 6, 1944: The Nazis are terrorizing Europe, on their evil quest to conquer the world. The only way to stop them? The biggest, most top-secret operation ever, with the Allied nations coming together to storm German-occupied France.
Welcome to D-Day.
Dee, a young U.S. soldier, is on a boat racing toward the French coast. And Dee -- along with his brothers-in-arms -- is terrified. He feels the weight of World War II on his shoulders.
But Dee is not alone. Behind enemy lines in France, a girl named Samira works as a spy, trying to sabotage the German army. Meanwhile, paratrooper James leaps from his plane to join a daring midnight raid. And in the thick of battle, Henry, a medic, searches for lives to save.
In a breathtaking race against time, they all must fight to complete their high-stakes missions. But with betrayals and deadly risks at every turn, can the Allies do what it takes to win?
